FOURTH OF JULY IN THE HIGH COUNTRY
Written by Rocky Mountain Woman on July 8, 2011 – 5:43 am -I spent last weekend at my friend’s cabin in the high Uinta mountains.
It would appear that these mountains haven’t got the word that summer has arrived!
This has been an amazing year for snow, but quite frankly I was shocked at how much is still up there. These pictures were taken July 4 in Utah’s Uinta Mountains at between 9 and 10 thousand feet elevation…
Provo falls pretending to be Niagra Falls!

From one sparkling wine place to another…
I stopped here on my trip to the coast.
Sigh…it’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it.
This place was so cool. It would be worth visiting even if you couldn’t get champagne here. I really expected to see Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr sitting on the patio having lunch! It’s kind of touristy, but in a good way. I ended up buying a six pack of champagne (who knew there was such a thing!). It’ll be great fun to surprise my guests with this summer instead of the sangria they’ll be expecting!
I got a kick out of this sign. This place is 6500 feet lower than where I live! I loved all the oxygen!! and bubbles!!!

If you are ever in the neighborhood, stop here and have lunch with Cary and Deborah…
and if nothing else, go check out their website, I love the bubbles..so cool! Korbel Champagne

Written by Rocky Mountain Woman on June 27, 2011 – 5:57 am -Yes, in case you were wondering, these are the alcohol free sparkling apple cider guys…
Correction – they are NOT affiliated with the sparkling apple cider guys – see comment below…
Typically, I stay away from that stuff. I figure that if I’m going to add the calories to my daily intake (which is already pretty stinking high), I’m at least going to enjoy a little buzz!
Anyway, I was driving by when I was in California and decided to stop and see if they had anything with ALCOHOL in it.
They do! And actually, the wines I tasted were not bad, especially the zinfandel. I didn’t really enjoy the experience though. I don’t know if it was because I was dressed in my usual jeans, t-shirt and cowboy boots wine tasting attire (I am a classy chick!) or the fact that I pulled in in a 10 year old pickup truck, but the guy who was doing the tasting was pretty snobby and talked to me like I was an idiot. Now, I may not be the smartest light bulb in the pack, but I do know a little about wine. Not a lot, mind you, but a little and I am not above dropping a few bucks in a place like this if I like the wine and am having fun tasting it.
Anyway, I probably would have bought a bottle or six of the Zinfandel I tasted, but decided to save my money and spend it on the next wine that appealed to me!
I loved sunny CA!
xxoo,
RMW
