B IS FOR BODEGA BAY
Written by Rocky Mountain Woman on November 9, 2011 – 1:02 pm -This post is in honor of the letter “B” and part of Jenny Matlock’s Alphabet Thursday. For more bodacious “B” posts, please click here http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com/
I decided to take a quick trip to the coast last month before the weather turns. One of the places I visited was Bodega Bay. It was a charming sweet little place that I instantly fell in love with. Here are a few photos to give you a glimpse of how beautiful it is there.
I ate at this wonderful little crab restaurant right on the bay. The crab sandwich was amazing!
I have a lot more to tell you about the trip, but I wanted to get this much up for class. I stopped at some wonderful wineries and found some new wines for you to try! The highlight of my trip though was that I had lunch with Holly, the lovely lady who is responsible for the artwork on my site. It was the first time I ever met someone from my virtual world in the real world and it was so much fun! She was just as I thought she would be, funny and intelligent and a wonderful lunch companion.
I had so much fun on my trip! I’ll get some more pics up in the next week or so….

Written by Rocky Mountain Woman on July 22, 2011 – 12:24 pm -I can’t begin to describe how wonderful the food was. I ate in a different restaurant for every meal so I could fit in as much variety as possible. Hands down, this guy’s restaurant was my favorite.
I spent an hour or two in here (hey, it was hot out!)
crayfish patties
Alligator! This was the first time I’d ever tried it, even though I lived in Florida for years. It was good, but pretty much anything is good deep fried and served with garlic aioli.
Emeril’s place – the food here was absolutely amazing! I had etouffee and bread pudding. It was wonderful, but I still think K Paul has him beat…
I couldn’t resist buying this…

french market
the mighty Mississippi
I would highly recommend the New Orleans Food & Wine festival for anyone who obsesses over food and wine (like me). I learned so much and had such a good time. I’ll definitely come back, maybe not next year, but sometime again in the next few years for this amazing festival!

Written by Rocky Mountain Woman on July 20, 2011 – 12:18 pm -This post is in honor of the letter “N” and part of Jenny Matlock’s Alphabet Thursday. For more nascent “N” posts, please click here http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com/
I simply was blown away by New Orleans, the city, the river, the people, the food… This place rocks!
I learned so much about Cajun food and the wines that complement it and had such a good time doing it! The plan is to cook the foods that I learned how to make one by one and photograph them step by step so you’all can learn about Cajun food also. I ordered a bunch of cookware and seasonings when I was there and they have all arrived now, so I am ready to rock.
But first, a few pictures of lovely lovely NOLA:
The French Quarter
A cigar factory. I don’t smoke and I have no idea why this appealed to me so much, but I got a kick out of watching them make cigars.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. Who doesn’t love Forrest?
A sign I ordered for my kitchen…tee hee
This entire city revolves around food. It’s amazing!

A street performer. It was about 95 degrees when I took this, I was in awe of his stamina. This is a real person, not a statute!
This is how I got around! Fun fun place
So I have more pictures and more food to show you, but this post is getting pretty dang long. More to come in the next few days!!!
Stay cool!
