ALWAYS LOOKING OUT FOR YOU…L’ Ecole No 41
Written by Rocky Mountain Woman on May 7, 2010 – 12:36 pm -I am always looking for new wines for you to try. I feel like it is my duty to try as many wines as I can, so I can steer you guys to the good ones. Don’t you just love how kind I am? Sometimes, I amaze myself.
Anyway, I have a new one for you to try. It’s from one of my very favorite wineries.
I love this wine. It’s a Chenin Blanc (you don’t see too many Chenin Blancs anymore), and it’s light and fruity, a little sweet, but not too sweet. It was the perfect pairing for the Pear Salad below and the ladies at the book club meeting drank it all up! Don’t worry, I’ll pick up a few bottles when I’m in Walla Walla later this month, as well as several more wines to try for you.
If you can find this at your local wine purveyor, buy it! It’s inexpensive and will make a great summer wine to sip with all the great salads you make over the summer…
Happy Sipping!

Written by Rocky Mountain Woman on March 10, 2010 – 12:56 pm -So, on my last wine buying expedition to Washington, I picked up a few bottles of Cabernet Franc. It’s kind of the red headed step child of Cabernet Sauvignon and I hadn’t really ever tried it. A wine varietal that I hadn’t tried? That was a problem that needed an immediate remedy! So, last night I opened a bottle and fell in love! It had a pronounced berry flavor with a little hint of chocolate. Chocolate always get my attention! Anyway, try it you must.

Written by Rocky Mountain Woman on February 12, 2010 – 3:20 pm -I read about this wine on the Epicurious website as a “top 5 Affordable Super-Tuscan. So, since I am always on the lookout for a bargain, I bought a few bottles on sale at the local wine store. It’s really quite a nice, smooth red. If you like big cabs, you’ll probably like this. Highly recommended for Valentine’s Day, perhaps with Pasta and Sausage – see Tuscan Night in the Rocky Mountains from last month.
As you can see from the picture, Rocky Mountain Woman was not able to wait until Valentine’s Day to open her last bottle…
Happy Friday night….
