“I’m a person of the mountains and the open paddocks and the big empty sky, that’s me, and I knew if I spent too long away from all that I’d die; I don’t know what of, I just knew I’d die.”
― John Marsden, A Killing Frost
Here are 10 things I love about the mountains:
The soft evening light
The sweet morning light
Critters
Solitude
Dark night skies
Quiet
Beauty
Peace
“Mountains are not Stadiums where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, they are the cathedrals where I practice my religion.”
― Anatoli Boukreev

Funny thing, I’m the opposite. I needed
to be by the ocean.. I lived in mountains
desserts and flat lands but born by the
sea.. then moved.. but 6 years ago I needed
to move back to Florida, by the sea.
I totally understand your need for the
mountains, and yours are especially
beautiful.
Good post

That’s the way I felt about our mountains in Tucson. They always made me feel safe. The ocean has a different feel to it, but I love it, too. And the big liveoak trees dripping with Spanish moss give me shelter. Wonderful post, and excellent photos!

Your “M”ountain are very pretty, Lady R.M.W. I couldn’t lsve like that, soooo far away and isolated. But surely there are some towns nestled down in those mountains for me. I’d like that.
(p.s. I grew up on a Nebraska farm.)

beautiful photos and quotes. I love looking at the mountain formations from the air, and imagine how many thousands of years it took to create a valley. I’m a hog for the window in an airplane… {:-Deb
